The role
As a HIOWAA Captain, you’ll have a role that’s out of the ordinary flying a state of the art H135 T3 helicopter on day and night HEMS missions. BMCSO provides world-class operations to our customers helping them to save lives and protect communities every day.

Day to day, you’ll be expected to:

Conduct day and night HEMS operations for Hampshire and Isle of Wight Air Ambulance
Meet company and customer health and safety responsibilities and have a strong understanding of required aviation regulations
You will be required to reside within 25 nautical miles or 45 minutes of Thruxton Airport

What do I need to do the role?

Minimum requirements for candidates for this position are:

Hold an UK ATPL(H) / CPL(H) with IR
Full UK Aviation class 1 medical

Essential Experience required:

Either :
• 1000 hours pilot in command of aircraft of which 500 hours is pilot in command on twin turbine helicopters; or
• 1000 hours as co-pilot in HEMS/Police operations of which 500 hours is as pilot in command under supervision and 100 hours pilot in command of twin turbine helicopters.

Must have the following in addition to either of the above 2 points.

2000 hours minimum total helicopter experience
500 hours operating experience in twin turbine helicopters in an operational environment similar to the intended operation.
• 20 hours VFR at night as pilot in command.
• Fluent English, Driving License, Passport, Right to Work in the UK.

Candidates would also ideally:
• Be qualified and instrument rated on the H135.
• Have current or recent HEMS experience.
• Have experience of NVIS operations.

The successful candidate must be able to achieve DBS security clearance for this role.
